Product Description

The AD723 is a 2.7V-5V RGB-to-NTSC/PAL Video Encoder with load detection and input termination capability, packaged in a 28-lead TSSOP. This device converts analog (RGB) Red, Green, and Blue color component signals into luminance and chrominance signals (Y/C) and composite video (CV) for display on an NTSC or PAL television or monitor.

An optional luminance trap (YTRAP) provides a means of reducing cross color artifacts due to sub-carrier frequency information in the Y signal.

Features

  • Current Mode Output Drivers:
    To deliver a full swing video signal from a supply voltage down as low as 2.7V.
  • Load Check/TV presence Detection:
    Self-power down of unused outputs (either composite video or S video) reduces total power consumption. TV presence reported for plug-and-play capability.
  • Triple RGB Input Termination Switch:
    Addresses application issues arising from varying load conditions without the need for external buffer or degradation of RGB monitor's input signal.
  • DC coupled outputs:
    Eliminates large and costly output capacitors (typ. 220uF) and enables the load check feature.
