Introduction
This Application Note describes the evaluation board for the AD9833 Programmable Waveform Generator. The AD9833 is a low-power programmable waveform generator capable of producing sine, triangular and square wave outputs. The part can be operated with clock frequencies up to 25 MHz. Full data on the AD9833 is available on the AD9833 Product Page and should be consulted in conjunction with this Application Note when using the evaluation board.
The evaluation board interfaces to the parallel port of an IBM compatible PC. Software is available with the evaluation board which allows the user to easily program the AD9833.
Components on the AD9833 Evaluation Board include a 25 MHz oscillator which provides the MCLK for the AD9833. The user can remove this oscillator, if required, and drive the AD9833 with a different clock oscillator or an external clock source via a BNC connector. A digital buffer is also on the board so that the signals from the edge connector are buffered.
Software
The software provided runs under Windows 95, 98, 2000 and WindowsNT and will allow the user to control all the functions of the AD9833 via the printer port of a PC. The software should be installed by running the SETUP.EXE program.
